We’ve got a case of the Monday Blues and what better way to cure it than with film? Every Monday I’m going to try and get those blues to leave by presenting a new film we’re all hyped up to watch. This Monday I’ve chosen: “Atomic Blonde” starring Charlize Theron and directed by David Leitch. The film follows Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) as she is sent alone into Berlin on a dangerous mission to retrieve a priceless dossier within the city. She then meets chief David Percival (James McAvoy) as she navigates through the city and plays a dangerous game that she is not sure how to get out of.
I’ve heard a few people compare this to “Salt” which I personally don’t have a problem with. “Salt” was a commercial success and once again brought to the front and center a female led movie, which seems to be a trend in summer blockbusters this year. I know people are groaning about another spy movie but this cast not only includes Charlize Theron, it includes Sofia Boutella, Toby Jones, James McAvoy, and John Goodman. Chances are you’ve seen at least one in some sort of spy movie, loved it, now imagine you can see all of them and Charlize kicking some major ass? It’s a win/win.
“Atomic Blonde” already has a 4 star rating on IMDb and a climbing 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s to be released in theaters on July 28th, 2017.
