Cinderella star Lily James has just been cast to join the upcoming Mamma Mia sequel as a young version of Meryl Streep, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! Is the second installment of the 2008 adaptation of the play of the same name, which features the music of the band ABBA. The first film grossed more than $600 million worldwide and had been expecting a sequel for quite some time. Stars of the original film: Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Christine Baranski, and Amanda Seyfried are all expected to return for the sequel.
Lily James can be currently seen in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, as well as the 2015 live action adaptation of Cinderella and Downton Abbey as Lady Rose. She will next be seen in Darkest Hour which also stars Gary Oldman.
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! Is expected to be in theaters on July 20, 2018.
